  • Coughing fits, and a clinic visit

Yesterday was a pretty fun day. Jessica, Namine, and I went over to my mom’s house for lunch. My dad went out and got a sled for Namine, and he ran around the front yard with a bundled Namine in tow. (I would have loved to do the towing, but I was stricken with a…

  • Emergency appointment

Namine’s cough has been pretty nonexistent lately; during the night, at least, we haven’t heard her cough at all lately.

  • Persistent ear infection

I would love to be able to write “the ear infection is gone.” Alas, it is not to be. Jessica and my mom took Namine in to the ENT clinic this morning, where they found that Namine’s ear infection is still there. Smaller, but still there. That means, among other things, that we cannot yet…

  • A trip to the ENT clinic

We took Namine in to be seen by ENT today. The culture from her ear infection had turned out to be fungal, not bacterial, so the bacterial eardrops we had given her (that finished about ten days ago) did no good. Actually, the eardrops may have exacerbated things, and possibly sped up the rate of…

  • Ear infection, again (or still?)

Yesterday we took Namine in to see the doctor. We’ve been giving her ear drops prescribed for her ear infection (just a day or two left in the original prescription, now), and we thought that the infection was all but gone. We certainly hadn’t seen any drainage or any other evidence of an active infection,…

  • Slight ear infection

My mom took Namine to the Urgent Care this morning, and I accompanied them, in case they needed to suction out her ears.

  • Kitties are great motivators

A lot has happened since I last posted – some of it good, and some of it bad – and I apologize for the lapse.

  • A trip to the pumpkin farm

While everybody else sat at home watching some boring game, we took Namine to a pumpkin farm. She got to pick out her own little pumpkins, we took a hay ride, got lost in a corn maze, and picked out some large pumpkins, too. I think it’s safe to say that we had more fun…

  • Namine is sick again

Last night we saw some crusties around Namine’s right ear. No active drainage, but crusties (Give me a break. what word would you use?) are enough of an indication of an infection. So Jessica and my mom took Namine to see her pediatrician this morning.

  • Happy birthday Namine!

Namine turns 2 today! She’s come so far in such a short time, but it doesn’t feel like a short time. We’ve been through so much, and she’s just as strong, if not stronger. Judging by how sassy she is lately, she is definitely 2. I think she’s most likely eat more cake this time…

  • Namine’s trach/vent clinic visit

Today is the last day that Namine has to wear arm restraints! Yay! Nothing really much to report from Namine’s trach/vent clinic visit. Last time, they found that she had an infection in her right ear. That’s gone now. We should find out soon if we can get her decannulated this summer. Speaking of, we…

  • Sleep, perchance to dream

Namine is asleep, at last. Since we’re here in the hospital, and she’s feeling so crappy, we have temporarily suspended our rule that Namine is to nap no later than 5, maybe 6 in the evening.
