    Scary sats and an x-ray

When Namine drops her sats, our immediate thought is that she’s getting sick. Well, she’s already sick, so it would be no surprise that her sats are down a little. But Namine was down to 81 this morning, and that’s frightening. To make matters worse, Namine woke up with the croup again.

  • One of those days

    One of those days

Namine woke herself up this morning – 4:00 in the morning, to be precise – coughing a familiar barking cough. Of course, both Jessica and I were half asleep. (I don’t actually remember running from our room to Namine’s; I’ve just filed that one away as acting on parental instinct.)

  • After the doctor visit

Namine’s doctor appointment came and went with little fanfare. She sounds great – with not so much as a cough now – and had no difficulty blowing the little pinwheel for the pediatrician. (She gets better and better at it every time. Speech therapists and pathologists would be proud.)

  • The cold that won’t quit

Or whatever it is that we got sick from, anyway.

  • Ear tubes and therapy

    Ear tubes and therapy

So Namine has been fighting this cold, cough – whatever it is – for a few days now. Since Friday, I think. She’s been seen by a doctor a few times; both at the pediatrician’s office and the Quick Care (or whatever it’s called) – because on Sunday, the pediatrician’s is closed. Each time, we…

  • Still sick

This morning Namine woke up once again with the croup, unfortunately. The adrenaline helped yesterday, to be sure, but it’s back today. It’s actually worse today than it was yesterday.

  • Congestion snot fun

    Congestion snot fun

You’ll have to excuse the bad pun, it’s been kind of a long day for me. I had originally intended to talk about Namine’s school orientation today, but her sudden fever, congestion, and croup had other plans.

  • IEP, the ER, and ABCs

I meant to update the other day with the results of Namine’s first IEP – not to be confused with a preliminary IEP – but we had to bring her into the ER. Things have calmed down a bit now, though, and I can finally catch you up.

  • IEP today

This time it’s for real. Namine has had all the one on one meetings the school wants her to have had, I think, so now it’s time for everyone to gather around and discuss what’s best for her. That’s all well and good for them, but we’ll see how on the mark they really are.

  • Ear surgery recovery

On Friday Namine had her ear surgery, where they replaced her ear tubes. They had originally thought to remove the tubes and leave her ears tube-free, but it made more sense to replace them. The new tubes will only last about a year or so, and they’ll re-evaluate Namine’s ears again when those come out.…

  • Still sick

After therapy this afternoon, Jessica is going to take Namine to the pediatrician.

  • Chest x-ray results

What the title says. Unfortunately, “Namine is not sick anymore” is not part of it. We’re still fighting whatever she has – whatever is giving the raspiness in her chest. On the plus side, though, Dr. Gordon is back in town and we got the okay to bring Namine in for a chest x-ray. Thanks…
