Namine
Namine Olivia Eiche was born on July 15, 2008 with a double-inlet left ventricle heart defect; Pierre Robin sequence, a condition that resulted in a regressed jaw and a partial (U-shaped) cleft palate; caudal regression syndrome (also known as sacral agenesis), which damages the growth of the tailbone and legs, also giving her clubfoot; and scoliosis.

Eighth birthday party
Namine celebrated her eighth birthday today!

Namine was very happy to return to basketball after two weeks of vacation.

We all went to Myakka River State Park for walkies and a boat ride. We saw more wild alligators than we’ve ever seen before in one trip.

Tonight was the second time ever that Namine has swam with water wings by herself.

Birthday on the road
Today Namine turned eight years old. We can hardly believe it! There was little celebration today, because we were still on the road to my parents’ condo in Florida. But we still celebrated this morning with hotel waffles, and this evening at dinner.

Hellen Keller’s home
On our way down to Florida, we stopped in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to visit Ivy Green, the childhood home of Helen Keller.

After last night’s Miracle League baseball game, they took professional pictures of all the players.

Happy retirement, Dr. Gordon
Last night was the retirement party for Dr. Gordon, who has been Namine’s special needs doctor, well, pretty much since birth.

Namine’s baseball game was last night, instead of Thursday, because of the upcoming holiday.

Namine and her cousin attended a little fairy-themed arts and crafts festival over the weekend.
