  • Chest x-ray results

What the title says. Unfortunately, “Namine is not sick anymore” is not part of it. We’re still fighting whatever she has – whatever is giving the raspiness in her chest. On the plus side, though, Dr. Gordon is back in town and we got the okay to bring Namine in for a chest x-ray. Thanks…

  • Sicker tonight

I am sitting in the living room typing this post, with the baby monitor sitting next to me so I can hear Namine’s every cough. It’s taking me a lot longer to type tonight’s up, with many a break in my train of thought because every time she coughs, I run into her bedroom. Each…

  • High fever and a trip to the ER

Last night Namine had an incredible fever of 103.2. That was under the armpit, too, and we thought that was much too high for what the doctor had called just that afternoon “the tail end of a virus.”

  • The silver lining

Well, Namine ate dinner last night, and kept it down. She seemed to be doing better, if a little crabbier. But I suspect that her stomach and intestines still hurt, and she doesn’t understand why. It’s a major sign that she doesn’t feel well when she doesn’t even want to me to sing to her.…

  • Night trip to the ER

Namine woke up at about 1:30 this morning, wheezing and gasping for breath.

  • MRI appointment today

    Another day, another appointment.

  • Namine and her medicine

Jessica and I didn’t get a whole lot of that parent-baby time you usually get when the baby is first born. We were never woken up by a crying child in the middle of the night – by the time Namine came home, she was over seven months old, and slept pretty well through the…

  • All the pain she can bear, and more

This evening Namine was in more pain than we’ve seen her in a while.

  • Communicating pain

Since being decannulated, and especially since her stoma was closed, Namine has a much easier time talking. We’re continuing to teach her signing as well, and she’s improving every day. Of course she still signs quite a bit, which helps when we don’t understand her words. She’s still working on those consonants, but we hear…

  • Taking her meds

I don’t have anything really new to share tonight, but as I try to post something about Namine every night (call this my own writing exercise, I guess), I’ll share with you what she did tonight after finishing her breathing treatments.

  • Who told her what Band-Aids are for?

Jessica and I were in the other room, preparing our joint Halloween effort for tomorrow.

  • Coming down with something

Namine was coughing quite a bit after she woke up, so we took her to the doctor this morning. Two nights ago, she was coughing a bit before she fell into a deeper sleep. Last night, however, she didn’t cough at all. I had hoped that whatever had been giving her the sniffles had passed.…
