  • Going home soon

    Going home soon

The plan for Namine is, as the doctors have outlined it, for Namine to go home on Monday (assuming she doesn’t come down with anything else over the weekend, that is). She will go home on vancomycin – the IV antibiotic – and will remain on it for at least another week, if not two.

  • Risk versus benefit

    Risk versus benefit

Earlier today I had mentioned that the culture taken from Namine’s chest incision indicated that she has MRSA. Before the culture results had come back, the doctors had put Namine on clindamycin as a precautionary measure, as they suspected infection (pus oozing out of a wound, with barely a touch to provoke it, will do…

  • One more removal

Namine’s heparin is scheduled to be stopped at 4:00 tomorrow morning. Then at 8:00, the remaining two chest tubes and pacing wires will be pulled! This is good news, indeed.

  • Surgery next week

    Surgery next week

Okay, next week’s – um, let’s go with procedure – should be pretty low-key. The key word there is should, because Namine’s feet have seemingly had nothing but complication every time they’re under the knife. Hopefully this coming Tuesday will be different, however.

  • Pushing back the infection

    Pushing back the infection

Yesterday Namine had another ENT appointment, once again to suck out her ear. But this time it wasn’t just the right ear – both had to be taken care of, but it’s not all bad. The process sucks, but it’s for the best.

  • Father-daughter time

    Father-daughter time

Every night, Namine and I have a routine. She gets a bath, then she takes her medicine.

  • Persistent infection

    Persistent infection

We paid a visit to the ENT clinic yesterday, in order to see whether Namine’s ear infection had cleared up yet. It hasn’t. As a bonus, Namine had a panic attack in the clinic, too.

  • Echo results

On Friday Namine had her echocardiogram. Once again, like with Monday’s ultrasound, Namine was afraid of the tech and having the echo done. But when she realized that this was painless, she was fine. She lay perfectly still for the entire thing, much to the tech’s surprise.

  • Echo tomorrow

    Echo tomorrow

I’m sure that you’ve heard already – Namine’s echocardiogram (or is it two words – echo cardiogram?) is tomorrow. We’re plenty nervous, but we’ve had plenty of time to get our jitters out. We’re ready for the news, be it good or bad.

  • Appointments lately

Namine had an appointment at the ENT clinic the other day. The news was not surprising, and not very alarming, either. Namine still has an ear infection in her left ear, but thankfully it is only still in her left ear. We’ve already got ear drops, though, so we’ll be giving those to her until…

  • Ear surgery recovery

On Friday Namine had her ear surgery, where they replaced her ear tubes. They had originally thought to remove the tubes and leave her ears tube-free, but it made more sense to replace them. The new tubes will only last about a year or so, and they’ll re-evaluate Namine’s ears again when those come out.…

  • Cancelled?

A couple things might interfere with Namine’s scheduled surgery tomorrow, and for once, neither of them is sickness. Namine has remained pretty healthy – not even a cough or a sniffle – but complications at the hospital might make for a rescheduling or two.
