Coming home tonight
Namine is being discharged from the hospital this evening. Much has happened since the last post, not the least of which is the foot surgery schedule change.

A trip to the pumpkin farm
While everybody else sat at home watching some boring game, we took Namine to a pumpkin farm. She got to pick out her own little pumpkins, we took a hay ride, got lost in a corn maze, and picked out some large pumpkins, too. I think it’s safe to say that we had more fun…

Namine is sick again
Last night we saw some crusties around Namine’s right ear. No active drainage, but crusties (Give me a break. what word would you use?) are enough of an indication of an infection. So Jessica and my mom took Namine to see her pediatrician this morning.

Sickness, scarfing, and scooting, oh my
Namine is doing better and better every day, but she’s not quite 100% yet. She still needs oxygen while she sleeps, and she’s still coughing a little bit during the day. But she’s done with her Tobi meds and oral antibiotic, she’s coughing less, and what little she is coughing, she’s getting mucus out of…

Decannulation is a go
As Jessica posted earlier, Namine passed her sleep study. This means one thing: decannulation!

Improvement, now with ketchup
Namine seems to be getting a little better, now that she’s on the Tobi nebulizer and a steroid to help keep her wheezing down. She’s only coughed once since I put her to bed, and she didn’t even need much suctioning. Between finishing the breather and putting her to bed, though, she coughed up quite…

Possible trach infection
Late yesterday and this morning, Namine has had a lot more secretions than usual. In addition, this morning her secretions have been mucusy (is that a word?) and yellow-green, and she’s been coughing and hacking. So Jess called Namine’s pediatrician and her pulmonologist for advice on what to do. Of course the first thing that…

Happy birthday Namine!
Namine turns 2 today! She’s come so far in such a short time, but it doesn’t feel like a short time. We’ve been through so much, and she’s just as strong, if not stronger. Judging by how sassy she is lately, she is definitely 2. I think she’s most likely eat more cake this time…

The path to recovery
Namine is asleep, so I think now is as good a time as any to update everyone on how she’s doing. The hardest thing a parent has to do, I think, is sit and watch their child in sickness, knowing they can do little to lessen the pain, and nothing at all to improve their…

A turn for the worse
While the cleft palate repair itself was successful, Namine has developed complications. She has had a lot more blood than the doctors expected in her stomach, which is making it upset. She almost threw up once, so they gave her something to ease the nausea. She also has quite a bit of blood in her…

Tomorrow is the big day
Well, kids, it’s almost here: the cleft palate repair. Namine is scheduled to be taken back for surgery at 7:30, and we have to be at the hospital by 6. As we’re used to by now, she’ll only get her night feed until midnight tonight, Pedialyte until 4. Jess and I will most likely just…

In the hospital again
I haven’t really had a chance before now to post on how Namine’s doing, and for that I apologize. They just kicked me out of her room so they could do a chest x-ray, though, so I guess here’s my chance. They woke her up, and she’s pissed.
