Namine
Namine Olivia Eiche was born on July 15, 2008 with a double-inlet left ventricle heart defect; Pierre Robin sequence, a condition that resulted in a regressed jaw and a partial (U-shaped) cleft palate; caudal regression syndrome (also known as sacral agenesis), which damages the growth of the tailbone and legs, also giving her clubfoot; and scoliosis.

Rangers and RPGs
We went up into the Smoky Mountains, and Namine became a Junior Ranger. Then we went back to MagiQuest for another round.

RPGs and mazes
Namine and I spent the better part of the day on a magical scavenger hunt.

Visit to the Aquarium
Namine was feeling much better, but the weather took a turn for the worse. So we made the most of it, and spent the day at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, in Gatlinburg.

A trip to Children’s Hospital
Namine’s cough did not improve; in fact, it got worse. We ended up taking her to the hospital.

Trip to the activity center
Namine is still sick, so we paid a visit to the condo’s activity center.

A day in, until it wasn’t
Perhaps it was Murphy’s Law that this morning, the first full day of our vacation, Namine woke up with a sore throat.

We’ve arrived!
I’m happy to say that we’ve safely arrived at our condo in Tennessee.

Halfway there
We’re officially on vacation! We’ve stopped for the night in Indiana.

Presentation at Marquette
Jessica, Namine, and I gave another talk to the bioengineering class at Marquette University.

Tour de Force kickoff
Namine had a great time at the Milwaukee Ballet Tour de Force kickoff party.

Last day of tennis
Despite Namine’s hurt wrist, she had a great time at the last tennis practice.

Old walker in therapy
Namine has switched back to using her old walker.
