Fall ball concluded

That’s a wrap on the Fall season of Miracle League baseball!

There’s a saying: “The days are long, but the years are short.” That’s true of the weeks too, especially when it comes to Miracle League baseball. It seems like the fall season just started, but now here we are wrapping up another one. Before the last game started, both teams gathered for a group picture.

I’ve mentioned before that Namine prefers, when their team is in the outfield, to take the pitcher’s mound. I’m pretty sure it’s to improve their chances of catching a ball, which has also happened a few times — though I’ve never had the good fortune of catching it on camera. This time, though, I did: the batter hit a grounder straight to Namine. They couldn’t quite reach the ground1, so they had a little bit of help from their Buddy in scooping up the ball into their glove.

Here’s a video of Namine at bat. They had a wonderful time playing baseball this season, despite the dark and encroaching cold, not to mention the late nights. They can’t wait until baseball starts up again in the Spring.

  1. If Namine leans over far enough, they can reach the ground. They don’t like to do so (and neither do we when they do) for obvious reasons. ↩︎
