    Princess Legos

We had planned on going to the mall over the weekend. For obvious reasons, we didn’t go on Saturday – Namine was still sick, and even though she was once again eating real food, we didn’t want to chance taking her out.

    Sick

I’ve lost count of how many times Namine has thrown up today. It was supposed to be a fairly normal appointment day, with Jessica taking her mom to get a blood draw, then one for herself and for Namine. How strange it must seem that that constitutes “normal” for us, but the day ended up…

    Better and worse

When Jessica gets sick, we hope she doesn’t need to be put on antibiotics because she’s allergic to so many. Namine has quite a few medical allergies, but not as many as Jessica. Yet.

    Sickness

After such a busy day yesterday, we thought that today would be a little more relaxed. We were wrong.

  • “Don’t kiss me”

    “Don’t kiss me”

So Namine has been dealing with a bit of a head cold since last night. After tucking her into bed, I leaned in to give her a kiss. No, don’t kiss me, Daddy, I don’t want to get you sick. Let’s hug and blow kisses instead.

  • Cookie day 2013

    Cookie day 2013

Jessica and her sisters had been planning today for some time. Today was cookie day… or perhaps, as I think of it, Cookie Day. We estimate a number of greater than six hundred cookies were made in the course of six hours. That’s not bad for having a single oven.

  • Speaking with the prosthetic

We gave Namine a couple days off from the prosthetic, if only to give her a chance to recuperate from whatever infection she might have.

  • Risk versus benefit

    Risk versus benefit

Earlier today I had mentioned that the culture taken from Namine’s chest incision indicated that she has MRSA. Before the culture results had come back, the doctors had put Namine on clindamycin as a precautionary measure, as they suspected infection (pus oozing out of a wound, with barely a touch to provoke it, will do…

  • Results of the cath

    Results of the cath

All things told, Namine’s heart catheterization went well. The doctors were able to see what they wanted to see, and we were able to go home by evening. But now we have complications to deal with.

  • A (sick) night in

    A (sick) night in

Namine has had a fever off and on since she came home from the hospital. It spiked again this evening, so we kept her home from dance. She’s still awake, talk talk talking in bed. I hope she doesn’t roll around too much when she finally falls asleep.

  • A sick morning

Namine was supposed to have physical therapy this morning, but she has a fever of over 100. Consequently, we kept her home. Actually, we let her sleep in; she didn’t even wake up until 10:45, and sleeping late is not Namine’s style. Usually she’s up at the crack of dawn, yelling “WAKE UP GUYS, IT’S…

A little vomit to the face builds character

Yesterday, I was going to go to the doctor for a general checkup. I have a busted blood vessel in my eye, which the optomotrist discovered during an eye exam. The blood leaking into my eye is not a cause for concern, in and of itself. The eye absorbs the blood back into my body,…
