At the cardiology clinic
As you can see, Namine was super cheerful today. She knew what was in store – an x-ray, a blood draw, and then on to see the cardiologist – but nothing could sour her mood. No, not even the blood draw.

Hope for tomorrow
Namine had a very good day today. Not only did she have one of her drainage tubes taken out, but she also did not throw up at all. True, all she had was Gatorade, water, and part of a popsicle, but she kept it all down, which is more than we could say for yesterday.

Seating clinic
Namine has had a lot of clinic appointments lately, the latest being at the seating clinic. The appointment at the seating clinic, where Namine goes for measurements and fittings for the wheelchair and walker, went well.

Dental clinic
Namine had a dental appointment late this morning. This is the first appointment with her new dentist; she graduated, according to the hospital, and she liked this one better.

ENT clinic
Namine had an appointment today at the ENT clinic. These are always the most dreaded, out of all the appointments she could have, especially when there is a good possibility that her ears will need to be sucked out. Fortunately, that turned out not to be the case.

Aaand it’s gone.
Okay, it turns out that Namine is scheduled for the 2nd after all. le sigh

Reschedules all up ins
When Namine’s heart catheterization was scheduled for July 2, it was only because that was the only opening. Even so, we’ve had plenty of experience with Children’s Hospital rescheduling us with hardly a moment’s notice. We were rightl to be apprehensive.

Echo tomorrow
Nearly every cardiology visit is filled with big and scary words. Tomorrow’s word of the day is echocardiogram. (Am I supposed to put a hyphen or space in there somewhere? As a self-taught medical student – by necessity, you understand – I can never remember.)

Breathing easier
Namine had a pulmonology appointment the other day. She came away with good news: she can now start to be weaned off her inhalers.

Heart appointment today
We met with Namine’s cardiologist today. With Namine’s O2 stats being lower since last weekend, our main concern was that the time for the third heart surgery, the Fontan, was drawing near. That’s a train you don’t want to miss.

We spent nearly three hours in the hospital today.

Cardiology appointment
Visits to the cardiology clinic, in my opinion, never get easier. The crux of the matter is that we’re talking about an event that no one can predict: open heart surgery. Unless you or a loved one have gone through it, you simply cannot feel the weight, the gravity of it.
