That’s Namine napping on the couch, on top of her piggy pillow. She fell asleep watching “Scooby Doo Meets Batman” for God only knows how many times. (I can tolerate that – and the other Scooby Doo videos she has – a little better than Dora or Elmo.) She was feeling much better last night, and Jessica tells me that she’s doing better today. That’s good for her and us – she’s crabby when she’s sick. The first indication that she was doing better was that she ate something like ten pizza rolls. With mustard. But more on that in a bit.
I had originally given her a bunch of little wieners with some ketchup for dinner, because she likes them so much. I made a bag of pizza rolls for myself, and a hot dog for my still-sick wife. Namine ate a couple wieners, but as soon as she saw me eating the pizza rolls, she asked for some of those instead.
This was a big sign that she’s feeling much better. Not just the asking for them, but the way she asked. When she’s sick, she whines all the time. Ask her a question, and all you get is an unintelligible whine. “What does that mean?” Another whine. So the fact that she said “Eee,” (please) while signing please, then “eee-ah ohl” (pizza rolls) – that made me very happy. She already had ketchup and mustard on her tray from her wieners, so of course she had to dip the pizza rolls in mustard. Don’t ask. She seemed to enjoy them, though, so I didn’t mind.
Namine is still sick, though; I know because of how tired she was, just around 9:00. After singing with Jessica to her, and then a few more songs in the dark bedroom, she was already nearly asleep. I didn’t hear a peep from her once I tucked her in. I only recall hearing her cough a couple times; that’s good, that means the croup is probably already on its way out. At least, I hope so.
Namine has pool therapy today, which means an extra tired Namine tonight. That’s okay, though. Pool therapy is good for her; it is able to do for her what no other therapy can, in terms of working and strengthening her arms and legs. She’s getting so strong. I’ll have to remember to post that video of her using her walker tonight.
