Namine
Namine Olivia Eiche was born on July 15, 2008 with a double-inlet left ventricle heart defect; Pierre Robin sequence, a condition that resulted in a regressed jaw and a partial (U-shaped) cleft palate; caudal regression syndrome (also known as sacral agenesis), which damages the growth of the tailbone and legs, also giving her clubfoot; and scoliosis.

Back into school
Jessica and Namine got back into school this week. It’s been rough on Namine, but I think she’s starting to find her rhythm again.

Learning new skills
Namine learned to use a knife to cut food in therapy. She got to practice again when we had breakfast for dinner.

PALS test
After Namine finished her PALS test, Jessica texted me, “I have news. Call me.” I didn’t know what to expect.

Namine played two songs for this year’s piano recital.

We were at the mall, and as per usual, Namine wanted to go in Gamestop.

Namine was playing with her toys, making them talk.

Mourning Grandma
Losing a loved one is never easy. Namine has endured the loss of pets before, and that’s hard enough. But the death of a grandma is much, much harder.

Wheelchair-friendly suitcases
The three of us have been on the hunt for a suitcase suitable enough for Namine to carry with her. We found some pretty decent prospects today.
