Coach Jackie started today’s session a little differently. Rather than diving straight into the regular exercises, she busted out the jumbo tennis ball to work on that hand-eye coordination.

After spending a good amount of time passing the ball around in a circle, Coach started everyone on practicing those backhand and forehand hits. Namine had been in quite some pain last night, and had been having second thoughts about coming to tennis today. But seeing them enjoy themselves at practice today, I think they were glad they came.

During practice, Namine’s leg pain did come back. Fortunately, Jessica came prepared, and had some Tylenol in her purse. A little later, Namine waved at me to get my attention. They made the ASL sign for pain, and beckoned me to come over to them.

They explained that their legs were feeling much better, but they had overexerted their left wrist. In most things, they are ambidextrous, but they’re not as used to hitting the ball with right hand. I suggested they look at it as an opportunity to practice, since there wasn’t much else that could be done.
