Namine’s birthday is on the fifteenth of July, making this year her golden birthday. We hosted a party for her a little early. Since we’re going to be away for her actual birthday (shh, it’s a surprise), we hosted a party for Namine with Jessica’s side of the family over the Fourth of July weekend.
Two of Namine’s cousins came, which gave Namine someone to play with. The girls played Truth or Dare, which initially gave me pause, but the questions they asked each other were much more innocent than you’d typically expect.
Jessica and I prepared quite a spread, including a pork roast, potato and tuna salads, and plenty of fruit and vegetables. After we’d all eaten our fill and let it digest a bit, we cut the cake. Namine had initially wanted a chocolate cake, but because she was concerned that one of her uncles was allergic to chocolate, she decided on vanilla.
After cake, of course, tradition dictates the opening of presents.
Namine’s last present was a surprise: that we would be taking her and her cousin to Ohio to see Fiona the hippo and her brother Fritz!
