TMJ4 is a news station in Milwaukee that often brings attention to Tour de Force. It’s a fantastic program, bringing the joy of dancing to kids who wouldn’t under normal circumstances ever experience it.
“Normal” isn’t a word we use a lot. “Normal is a dryer setting,” we say here, because normal goes out the window when your child spends more years in the hospital than out. Accessibility is a struggle, education is a nightmare (IEPs are no joke), and a day without pain is a blessing.
In the midst of all that, this program jointly run by the Milwaukee Ballet and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin brings wonder and joy to families in the form of dance. With the help of professional physical therapists and dancers, they learn ballet, build strength, and make new friends. This was Namine’s third season of participating in Tour de Force, and she absolutely loves it.
