Basketball practice

After being out for a few weeks, Namine enjoyed coming back to basketball practice.

Namine doesn’t have her own sports wheelchair, so she uses one of the spares they have. While she was waiting for the coach to get one, she practiced picking up the basketball from the floor.

Because Namine doesn’t have a sports wheelchair made for her, the one she uses (it’s usually the same one each practice) doesn’t really allow her the flexibility and shorter distance from the floor that her own wheelchair does. The result of this is that she can get a basketball from off the floor from her own wheelchair, but not the sports wheelchair.

Part of the drills they practiced today was weaving between cones. First Namine did it forward, then backward. Practice has allowed her to figure out how best to look behind her, and now she can turn tight corners backwards and (usually) avoid collisions.
