We would like to wish everyone a happy new year! Last night we went to Organ Piper Pizza – the best pizza place ever, in the history of the world, ever. Jessica and I had some wine (gasp!) and killed some zombies.
This New Year, we could have nothing but misery and depression, if we chose. All manner of things have gone wrong in 2011: Namine’s school was a bust, she continues to have painful bowel issues, she is constantly fighting ear and sinus infections, Jessica continues to fight medical complications – she was just diagnosed with ITP – I could go on. But we choose to be thankful. We thank and praise the God who has promised us this, in Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God has brought us through, well, not thick and thin; more like thin and thinner. He has seemingly, at times, dumped so much crap on us at once that we could scarcely imagine making it through without losing our apartment. Or our sanity. No way has He only given us what we could bear – He never made that promise, anyway. But through faith in Him (which He Himself orchestrated), by leaning on each other, friends, and family, we have made it to the end of another year.
And we look forward to the next one. God’s blessings!
