I started out the year writing about Wolff’s Law. It seems fitting now, seeing how Namine has grown, and continues to grow — despite the assurances of doctors.

    Getting taller

Jessica sent me some pictures of Namine in therapy yesterday. I was amazed at how tall Namine is getting.

    Taking risks

With as much work as Namine has been doing in physical therapy lately, it got me thinking. It’s been over two years since her second foot surgery, and she’s come leaps and bounds (sometimes literally) since then. It simply amazes me, how strong and resilient my daughter is.

  • Kickball

    Kickball

It had been a while since Namine had last gotten to kick the beach ball around at therapy. But doing so again reminded her how much she loved it.

  • Building leg strength

    Building leg strength

Yesterday at physical therapy, Namine walked around in the grass. We won’t have nice weather for very long until the winter comes, so I’m glad she was able to go outside.

  • Foot stretching

    Foot stretching

The pain is always there, but Namine rarely talks about it.

  • AFO adjustments

    AFO adjustments

I went with Jessica and Namine this afternoon to the orthopedic clinic. Namine had an appointment to have her right brace adjusted.

  • Stronger than ever

    Stronger than ever

Namine had an orthopedic appointment today. She was nervous, as she is wont to be when it comes to doctors, but afterward she said it was silly to be so.

  • Stronger every day

    Stronger every day

Namine got her new braces — AFOs (ankle-foot orthotics), to be exact, although “brace” is just easier to say — last week. Her old braces were too small for her ever-growing feet, and she needed more support than her shoes could give.

  • Riding her bike

    Riding her bike

We broke out Namine’s bike today to see if she could use a little more easily. I think it went well.

  • Roadblocks

    Roadblocks

Since we have Wii Fit board, Namine’s therapist recommended we try her out on some of its balance games. There were mixed results.

  • Climbing into the car

    Climbing into the car

Today in therapy, Lesley worked with Namine on getting into the car by herself.
