Nightmares
Last night was the first night in several days that Namine didn’t wake up in the middle of the night crying. We used to suspect that she has nightmares, but our suspicions are confirmed and we wonder no longer at the subject of those terrible dreams.

Echo results
On Friday Namine had her echocardiogram. Once again, like with Monday’s ultrasound, Namine was afraid of the tech and having the echo done. But when she realized that this was painless, she was fine. She lay perfectly still for the entire thing, much to the tech’s surprise.

IEP, the ER, and ABCs
I meant to update the other day with the results of Namine’s first IEP – not to be confused with a preliminary IEP – but we had to bring her into the ER. Things have calmed down a bit now, though, and I can finally catch you up.

Ear surgery recovery
On Friday Namine had her ear surgery, where they replaced her ear tubes. They had originally thought to remove the tubes and leave her ears tube-free, but it made more sense to replace them. The new tubes will only last about a year or so, and they’ll re-evaluate Namine’s ears again when those come out.…

Tomorrow we have to be at Children’s Hospital at 9:30 for surgery.

Therapy and school
This morning a physical therapist came to the apartment to evaluate Namine. But this was no ordinary PT – if there is such a thing – this was a PT from the school district. She was there to examine Namine in order to determine what kind of therapy she might need when she starts attending…

Polish Fest tomorrow
Tomorrow Jessica and I are going to be helping out our friend and neighbor Leah with the kids’ area at Polish Fest, down at the Summerfest grounds. ENT clinic today
What started as a routine clinic appointment ended, unfortunately, in setting yet another surgery appointment. But as glib and sarcastic as we sometimes get about surgery, we do recognize it as a necessary thing. And it is necessary once again. Next month, Namine has to have her right ear tube removed.

A touch to the heart
We don’t know whose lives we affect. Truthfully, we usually don’t even think about it. Why would we? We have no way of knowing who we’ve changed, and how. There is one person I know who has changed more lives than any other – my daughter, Namine. She has changed minds from pro-choice to pro-life.…

Home once again
I don’t imagine any of you who read Namine’s blog care for my tendency for long-windedness, so I’ll keep it short. Namine was allowed to come home on Saturday, which was a wonderful surprise. She still has needs medication for the pain, but she’s being quite a little trooper. She’s not allowed to move around…
