Stair lift

After a long wait, Namine’s stair lift has been delivered and installed!

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a stair lift so Namine can get more easily into the basement. There have been many storms since we’ve moved into our house, and each time Namine has to climb out of their chair, down the stairs, and back into the older wheelchair we keep down there. This is not a quick process.

Now that we have a stair lift, Namine can climb into the lift chair and ride it down, a much quicker way of getting downstairs when time is of the essence. The chair folds up when not in use, so Jessica and I can use the stairs as normal. The whole thing is plugged in, but it does have a battery backup for if the power goes out.

We want to thank Variety, the children’s charity of Wisconsin, for helping us pay for the stair lift. There are many things — equipment as well as services — that the state of Wisconsin will pay for, but this lift was not one of them. Variety covered most of the cost, which we could not afford. (At the very least, it would have taken us longer to put together the money for it.) Variety has been invaluable to us, there can be no doubt.
