Fall Fest

Namine had a great time at her second homecoming dance!

Last year, Namine attended her school’s homecoming dance for the first time. She had such a great time that she absolutely wanted to come back this year. Only, they don’t call it homecoming — they call it Fall Fest.

The dance is in Mosinee, and that means one heck of a drive for us. Not that we mind, but we’ve learned from experience that we need to book a hotel room. Driving for hours starting at 10pm is no picnic!

Jessica and I often say that Namine is the best of both of us. That also means that, as social as she can be, she can also be a bit of a wallflower. So we challenged her before dropping her off: introduce yourself to someone, and make a new friend.

When I came back to pick Namine up, I found that she had done just that. She and her new friend had been inseparable for most of the evening, and had traded contact information so they could stay in touch outside of class.

Namine was also given another assignment at the start of the evening, this time from one of her teachers. She was instructed to find, and say hi to, another one of her teachers. (I think she would have done that anyway.) She also gave herself an assignment: “have fun.” And that she did!
