After a solid seven or so hours of driving, we arrived back home. We brought Namine’s cousin home with us, whom we shall return on Saturday. (That means she’ll get to accompany us to the Brewers game as well as tennis practice!)
There’s actually a funny story about how we ended up coming home with Namine’s cousin. We were still in the car, a good ways away yet from her house. Jessica and I had heard a lot of whispering from the conspiring girls in the back seat, when Namine’s cousin piped up, “Is it okay if I spend the night tonight?”
Jessica and I saw no reason why not to give the girls some more time together, so I pulled out my phone to text her mom. As I was still typing, Jessica’s phone received a text from the very person I was texting: would it be okay if we kept her until Saturday?
It seemed destined to be.
When we arrived home, we knew that we’d have to go shopping, as we made sure not to have any leftovers or fresh produce before we’d left for a week. It was such a nice day, so Jessica took care of the shopping while I took the girls to a tennis court and playground fairly close to our house.
Namine’s cousin recently discovered how much she enjoyed playing tennis with Namine. And we have three tennis rackets, so this was perfect. With my hurt knee, I made the perfect (if relatively stationary) partner for Namine.
There was also a playground adjacent to the tennis courts, but it is not at all accessible. As Namine and I usually do, we made our own accessibility. The playground was filled with sand, so I dragged Namine backwards to the merry-go-round. There were flat platforms on it, so Namine transferred from her chair to one of the platforms.
Once she had transferred and turned around, I spun the girls on the merry-go-round until I couldn’t anymore.
