Real food again

We’re now on day two of getting Namine back to a regular diet. She’s had a variety of things – popsicles, Jell-O, chicken broth, and applesauce. She still hasn’t eaten a whole lot, but the fact that she’s willing to try a larger variety of food is enough for now. Remember the pleural drainage tubes?…

We’re now on day two of getting Namine back to a regular diet. She’s had a variety of things – popsicles, Jell-O, chicken broth, and applesauce. She still hasn’t eaten a whole lot, but the fact that she’s willing to try a larger variety of food is enough for now.

Remember the pleural drainage tubes? The amount of blood coming out of the tubes is minimal enough now that the doctors are thinking it’s time to remove them. According to Namine’s nurse, this could happen as early as tomorrow.

Namine keeps getting a fever. It spikes and drops, varying from day to day. I talked to a doctor about it, and he told me that it’s to be expected. As part of the recovery process, a fever is no surprise; in fact, they’d actually be concerned if she weren’t experiencing fevers. As long her body is still healing from (highly invasive) surgery, this could go on for the better part of a month.

Thanks for the update, Paul! Sounds like all good news, with the exception of the fevers… which I guess ARE also good news! I had no idea that could go on for a MONTH!!!!!!!!!!
