Chest x-ray results
What the title says. Unfortunately, “Namine is not sick anymore” is not part of it. We’re still fighting whatever she has – whatever is giving the raspiness in her chest. On the plus side, though, Dr. Gordon is back in town and we got the okay to bring Namine in for a chest x-ray. Thanks…

A call and a promise
Namine’s cough is still present; worse, it seems to have deepened. We suspect it has gotten into her lungs. So we called the special needs doctor on call – unfortunately, Dr. Gordon is out of town – and the woman who called us back is an idiot. Yes, I frequently put my foot in my…

Again to the ER
The night was not kind to Namine.

Preliminary IEP
This morning was Namine’s pre-IEP IEP. They called it the “preliminary IEP” – more like preliminary waste of time. We talked, we exchanged information, but no real decisions were made. We decided to make decisions, though. Does that count? After the meeting was said and done, nothing was committed. We signed a form or two,…

The day Namine was born
I’m too stunned. Events are happening too fast for me to react. I have no idea what time it is. I’ve brought my wife into the hospital because labor has started; the day is finally here – our daughter is being born.

High fever and a trip to the ER
Last night Namine had an incredible fever of 103.2. That was under the armpit, too, and we thought that was much too high for what the doctor had called just that afternoon “the tail end of a virus.”

Another trip to the ER
Well, kids, last night saw us in the ER again. Thankfully, it was a much shorter time than on Tuesday. Dr. Gordon, the head special needs doctor, wanted to see Namine because she’d been lethargic pretty much all day. It’s a pretty good indication that Namine isn’t feeling well when she doesn’t even want to…

The silver lining
Well, Namine ate dinner last night, and kept it down. She seemed to be doing better, if a little crabbier. But I suspect that her stomach and intestines still hurt, and she doesn’t understand why. It’s a major sign that she doesn’t feel well when she doesn’t even want to me to sing to her.…

The ER moves in slow motion
A friend of mine said, not too long ago, “the ER moves in slow motion.”

A letter to the us we used to be
I was thinking about this the other day, and I thought it might make a good post. I feel it’s especially appropriate today, it being Rare Disease Day, according to the Center for Rare Diseases. You know Namine has DILV – double-inlet left-ventricle heart defect – and that’s rare enough, I suppose. But she also…

When doctors are wrong
Namine has an appointment with her pediatrician today, but as I haven’t heard from my love how that went (if it’s even over yet), I’ll talk about something else. Ellen from Love That Max tweets: “When doctors tell you bad things – and they are WRONG. My cautionary tale.” She’s got a point. Doctors get…

Orthotics appointment today
Jessica took Namine in to see orthotics today.
