Namine

Namine Olivia Eiche was born on July 15, 2008 with a double-inlet left ventricle heart defect; Pierre Robin sequence, a condition that resulted in a regressed jaw and a partial (U-shaped) cleft palate; caudal regression syndrome (also known as sacral agenesis), which damages the growth of the tailbone and legs, also giving her clubfoot; and scoliosis.

    Handwriting exercises

I was having Namine do handwriting exercises. After she was done with letter lines, I told her she could write whatever she wanted, as long as it was a sentence.

Listening to Namine sing along to different versions of Let It Go. She imitates multiple vocal styles, depending on the artist. <3

Namine was looking at my deodorant yesterday and sounding it out.

  • Standing up

    Standing up

It’s not the first time Namine has stood up. She’s stood up with her walkers, she’s stood up using other objects. But it was the first time she’s been able to look out the window on her own.

    Playing on the Wii

There’s no better way to relax on a stormy day than to play games. We fired up the Wii, and introduced Namine to Wii Sports and Mario Kart.

    New pair of shoes

Contrary to doctors’ predictions, Namine’s feet continue to grow. Her Mary Jane sneakers have served her well, but the wear and tear of walking, crawling, and scooting — combined with the fact that the shoes almost don’t fit anymore — has necessitated getting new ones.

    Two years ago today

I can hardly believe that two years ago today, Namine was in recovery after her second club foot surgery.

    Overcoming limitations

Namine hurt herself. It wasn’t bad, and we didn’t have to pay a visit to the hospital. It was Namine’s pride, I think, perhaps her self-esteem, that was hurt the most.

    Namine’s outdoor adventures

Today was a fantastic day. We’re fortunate enough to have been able to come up to my aunt’s for the weekend, and the weather was superb today. Namine and I had the chance to go for a walk, and more.

    Making donuts

Namine was helping my aunt make donuts. She understood that she needed to dust the cutter in floor, but she didn’t know why.

    A walk to the park

Namine and I went to the park after I got home from work yesterday evening. The weather looked threatening, but it never rained. It was a nice warm evening to get out and go for a walk.
