Namine’s baseball game tonight was later than usual, casting long shadows over the players. As the sun set, the air cooled — but not too much.
Namine has enjoyed being with the same Buddy as last season, despite being on a different team. At tonight’s game, she had another Buddy — one whose kid was absent. Never one to mind making a new friend, Namine welcomed her warmly.
The bleachers were pretty crowded, reflecting how many kids were playing tonight. Jessica and I sat at a picnic table a little further away, so I had to move quickly when it was Namine’s turn at bat. She was so quick to hit the ball that I almost missed it!
