Pizza night

Homemade pizza is the best, and made better together.

In the lives of a busy family, it’s easy to get lost in the day to day. By the end of the day — or the week, or the month — you may think to yourselves, Where did the time go? Or more importantly, as we sometimes do, Are we connecting with each other? It’s so easy to fall into rote repetition: work, school, chores, and so on.

You may look at other families you know on social media. They’re doing so well in connecting with each other, or so it seems. You might even think that we appear to have it all together. I’ll let you in on a little secret: we’re not. No one is. All any of us can do is try — sometimes we get it right, and sometimes not.

I started writing this post with the simple and wholesome intent of sharing some pictures from a homemade pizza night. As sometimes happens, the flow of consciousness from my brain to the (virtual) page resulted in a different kind of post. It isn’t one I’m going to delete, because it’s worth sharing.

Take these pictures and my words as encouragement, both for you and for me. I need reminding, too, that family time is worth taking the time. We all do, I think. We don’t always have the time, or energy, for that matter, to dedicate to an evening of home cooking. But I’m glad we still do, on occasion. Our pizza was delicious! And even better, the joys we shared in the process will last much longer than the pizza did.
