Blood draw

At about 7:45 this morning, someone came in to draw Namine’s blood for labs. She was such a trooper, especially because it took the lady three tries to get it right. Each time, Namine counted down to the poke: “One, two, three, ow!” Of course she cried. But she didn’t throw up, and she held…

At about 7:45 this morning, someone came in to draw Namine’s blood for labs. She was such a trooper, especially because it took the lady three tries to get it right. Each time, Namine counted down to the poke: “One, two, three, ow!” Of course she cried. But she didn’t throw up, and she held her arm still for the blood draw.

When the blood draw was done, the lady pulled the needle out of Namine’s arm and I pressed some gauze over it to help stop the bleeding. “Am I done?” she asked.

“Yes, sweetie.”

The lady, on her way out the door, said to Namine, “Thank you for being so brave.”

Namine responded, “You’re welcome. Can you go away now?”
