Decorating for Christmas

We put up Christmas decorations over the weekend!

With little more than a week to go before Christmas, we finally had a day to ourselves, so we decided to decorate our apartment. But first, we had to rearrange things a little. Namine is homeschooled, and since there’s no such thing as a den or study in our little apartment, she has a school nook right where we wanted to put the tree — in front of the living room window, where its lights can be seen from outside.

The first order of business was to move everything in the school nook — everything on the table and drawer units — to the other table in the living room, which is home to the printer, my laptop, and my second monitor. The printer was moved around a little, but the laptop and monitor got moved into the bedroom for the holidays. The school table itself got folded up and put away too, leaving plenty of room for more festive things.

Despite the crappy weather (it was raining, like, hello, what month is it even), I took several trips out to the garage to bring in boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations. While Jessica and I put up decorations around the apartment and the tree, Namine occupied herself with decorating her own tree, which went in her room.

Once we had cleared away some of the larger boxes, Namine was able to climb into her wheelchair to help me decorate the big tree.

And of course, as is tradition, I held Namine up so she could put the angel on top of the tree.
