The trip was uneventful, and Namine was prescribed an antibiotic. It’s stuff she’s had before, but that doesn’t mean she has to like it. In the evening, when it was time for her to take the stuff, she gave me excuse after excuse as to why she simply couldn’t take it.

With her very last excuse, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I can’t take my antibiotic because the yucky bad taste gives me a tongue infection.”

After I was done laughing — during which Namine glared at me — I told her that that was just bad taste, not sickness or infection. I explained, again, that it was only if she took her antibiotic that she would get better. (Truth be told, her body could fight it off by itself, I’m sure. But it would take much longer, and we’d all rather avoid risking it getting into her lungs.) Begrudgingly, she finally took her medicine. Then she quickly washed it down with some water.
