Namine is done with her surgery, and is now in the PICU. The plastic surgeon said the surgery was boring, and that’s what we like to hear. She’s awake already, trying to talk and playing with the distractors. So they’re going to keep her a little more sedated tonight, and start weening her tomorrow. They tell us she should be able to be discharged on Friday. They’ll also start the actual distraction tomorrow.
To clarify, Namine’s surgery today was the initial breaking of her lower jaw and the placement of the jaw distractor hardware. The majority of the actual distracting of her jaw will be done by us at home.
Namine also had tubes placed in her ears. She had some fluid, which they drained, but she doesn’t have any ear infection, so that’s good.
So we’re in the waiting room right now, and they said it should be about 45 minutes or so before we can go into her room to see her.
